*Interview*

Questions asked for Nichole:
1. Why did you choose to study psychology?
2. What do you like most about psychology?
3. If you didn’t become a psychology teacher, would you have done something else in the psychology field? (therapist, etc.)
4. How many years did you study psychology?
5. What would you have chosen if you didn’t study psychology?

I gave these written questions to Nichole during break of my psych 245 class. She said she would e-mail me back the answers as soon as she could. The next night I checked my e-mail and had all the questions with very specific answers. I learned a lot from getting her responses. She let me know how many years it took her to do what she does, and other things along the lines of her personal opinions when it came to studying psychology. Nichole was very informative and open to answering the questions I had given. Her answers will benefit my paper because of the detail she gave and her personal opinions that could also help me personally when studying psychology.

*Annotated Bibliography*

"Addictions." American Psychological Association. N.p. n.d. Web. 5 Apr 2010. .

This source has every aspect of psychology that I need to know in order to write this paper. I narrowed it down to one specific toping on the website. It defines addictions and how it can be cured. The website gives advice to therapists on what addicts expect from their therapists. It also talks about the steps in which an addict changes their unhealthy behavior and what they can do to fix it. There are many other links on this page such as recent psychology news, books containing information on psychology, and where someone can find a therapist. This website is going to be very helpful for my paper and I am including this information in my paper to learn more about addictions and what people do about them.

"Diagnosis Dictionary." Psychology Today. Sussex Publishers, n.d. Web. 5 Apr 2010. .

In this source, there are many sub-titles concerning psychology and how certain aspects of it can be treated. It has many different topics that have to do with addictions and what the causes of each can be. It very well describes the symptoms of an addict for each topic such as amphetamines, alcohol abuse, cocaine, opioids, and much more. Each tab I click on gives specific information for each addiction problem. This website is very informative and will be very helpful when it comes to writing my paper. It has a lot of useful information that will come in handy for writing a good paper on psychology and addictions.

Mariani, Matthew. "Beyond Psychobabble: Careers in Psychotherapy." SIRS Knowledge Source Spring 1995: 12-25. Web. 5 Apr 2010. .

In this online magazine article, Matthew Mariani writes about different careers in psychotherapy. He gives specific examples for what psychotherapists do. There is a short write about a girl on this page that explains her problems and what he did to help her as a psychotherapist. He talks a lot about the mind and why it is so complex and why it does the things it does. He has many sub-titles relating to different topics about psychotherapy and what the therapist specifically does. He always describes the relationships between the therapist and their client, and where to go when wanting to find a place to listen. I am using this article as a big source for my paper because of all the useful information. Since it is written from a therapist himself, it has a lot of true facts from his head.

Wilson, Nichole. Personal Interview. 5 Apr 2010.

I interviewed my psychology teacher because she was the best I could find to ask questions. I asked her five questions specifically about psychology. To each question she gave me a very clear answer that will help me write my paper. I was surprised that a lot of her answers were similar to the answers I would have given about the subject. She said would have done something in medicine if she didn’t choose psychology which is exactly what I wanted. The interview with Nichole will help me out a ton because of the descriptiveness she put in the answers.

Topic Proposal

March 29, 2010
The topic I have chosen is psychology. I have been interested in helping people since I can even remember. Psychology caught my eye when I took it my first semester of college. I like how everything can be related to every person in some way. I have always felt that I am good with speaking with people and helping them figure out their problems. I am going to be majoring in psychology all through college hoping to become a therapist for addiction. I am very excited about learning how people develop and think so then I will be able to help them myself. Becoming a therapist of some sort has always been my dream job. It seems so fun and I can’t wait to get started on learning more about it as I write this paper.
